Islamic Azad University, Masjed Soleyman Branch is located in the first oil city in the Middle East in Khuzestan province, 125 km northeast of Ahvaz, which was founded in 1988 and is classified as a large branch in IAU ranking system. Currently, 3700 students are studying in four levels of associate, bachelor, master and doctorate in 54 fields in this branch. The university currently has 122 staff and 86 faculty members who teach and research in various fields. The achievements of the faculty members of this university branch have been published in more than 474 scientific articles in prestigious international journals and conferences, 156 intra-university research projects, 21 extra-university research projects and the compilation and translation of 43 volumes of university books.

This branch has played a significant role in training specialized and educated personnel in the fields of education, medicine, industry, sports and upgrading the level of knowledge and culture of the region by training 27741 graduates. This branch, with its young and outstanding researchers in the province and the country, has gained significant rankings at the international level. Also, some fields such as accounting, industrial engineering, oil, nursing and midwifery are very old in this university. Attention to the training of specialized manpower and the presence of industries such as oil, petrochemicals, cement, aluminum, dams and electricity generation, military industries and the historical antiquity of the university area has a high potential for launching and expanding various fields, especially in higher education.
