Ramhormoz Islamic Azad University was established in December 1995 by the cultural and social officials of this city, including the Friday prayer leader, the director of education, the governor and a number of benefactors. In October 1996, 110 civil engineering students of Shushtar branch were assigned to Ramhormoz branch. For 2 years, Ramhormoz branch students were supplied from the overflow point of Shushtar unit. In the third year of its establishment, Ramhormoz branch registered and accepted students through the national entrance exam. In 1998 and 1999, teacher training courses were added to civil engineering courses. In 1999, Ramhormoz Branch was awarded a bachelor's degree in family studies. This educational complex first started its activity in 2 rented houses and after about 26 years of its life, now it has 11 hectares of estate (land and superstructure) and about 1786 students with more than 45 educational fields from the levels from diploma to doctorate. It has had about 18,000 graduates so far and has been able to provide valuable services to the community throughout its life.
