Islamic Azad University Branch of Khorramshahr was separated from Abadan Branch in 2006 after consultations with the Central Organization of the University and in five disciplines from the second semester of 2006 in associate and bachelor degrees to attract students. The mentioned unit was then merged with the Persian Gulf International Training Center in 2015, which led to the further prosperity of the two university units. The vast majority of studies at this university are in postgraduate courses (master's and doctoral). Also, since 2018, it has started to attract master's degree students as the Ahvaz International Campus Unit, and also since 2019, it has tried to attract international students in the master's degree program in agreement with the Khorasgan branch. Undoubtedly, the only international unit of the Azad University in the region is this university unit, which due to the talent of the unit's human resources (staff and faculty) and the common border with Iraq and attracting students from that country can be a beautiful perspective in the development of the city and have an area.
