History of Islamic Azad University of Central Tehran Branch, with the old name of Islamic Azad University of Tehran Branch, is a non-profit university its main location and headquarters are currently located in (Sohank Province Complex) in Tehran it is the largest university system in Iran Islamic Azad University of central Tehran branch started its work from a rented building in 1361. On August 10, 1361, this university initiated educational work by creating 6 fields of study at the undergraduate level and one field at the associate level and accepting 200 students. Today, this university has 16 faculties, which organize about 488 courses in basic sciences, technical and engineering, arts, humanities and social sciences in bachelor's, master's and doctorate levels. This university has been built 157 thousand square meters of educational space; including three university complexes in Sohank, Poonk and Pich Shemiran regions. 94 laboratories, 63 with an area of 10785 meters and 3454 laboratory ، workshop equipments، a sport complex, 14 libraries, information center and digital library are among the facilities of this university. It is beneficial. This unit currently has 51,321 thousand students, about 758 full-time faculty members, 35 part-time faculty members and 650 employees.
