One of the most important university centers in Iran for educating the youth, efficient and specialized generation in Tehran, began its activities in various fields of Humanities, Technology and engineering, Basic science, and Agriculture by registering 250 students, in November 1984. The Science and Research Branch of Islamic Azad University has quickly grown so that it became a comprehensive independent Branch, it recently has 12 faculties, 17 research centers, More than 140 laboratory centers, 96 specialized groups that give educational services to students and researchers in various fields of study at different levels of bachelor, master, and Ph.D. currently, More than 41000 students are studying in 634 fields of study at different grades of education in this branch of Islamic Azad University.

From the beginning of its establishment until now, Science and Research Branch is the founder of 41 scientific journals in various areas of science, engineering, medical, and humanities are approved by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and Ministry of Health and Medical Education, some of these journals are abstracted and indexed in some international databases.
