Karaj Islamic Azad University (KIAU) which was established in 1984 is located in Rajai-Shahr, Karaj. This university is located in the north region of Alborz province. About 29,000 students are studying bachelor’s, master's, professional doctorate and PhD of 35 fields of science in 12 faculties of the university. The university has about 135,000 alumni. Currently, there are one research educational farm, 4 research centers, 2 an innovation center, 1 incubator center, 2 veterinary clinic, 1 psychology clinic and 110 active laboratories and workshops dedicated to education and research on various fields of technology and engineering, basic sciences, veterinary medicine, agriculture, nursing and midwifery. KIAU has pleasant atmosphere, meeting and sport halls, central library and teaching facilities with outstanding professors. The mentioned facilities made this university to be responsible for 35% of the educational and research affairs of alborz province. Dr. Mohammad Hassan Borhanifar has been the dean of KIAU since January 2017.
