Islamic Azad University, Tabriz Branch is the first branch after Central Tehran Branch, which was established in 1982. This comprehensive university has specialized faculty members and human resources and includes 12 faculties, 5 libraries (with more than 230,000 books), a central laboratory complex and more than 100 laboratories and specialized workshops in the faculties, a complex of research centers (including 6 Center; Biotechnology, Biophotonics, Robotics & Soft Technologies, Industrial Nanotechnology, Leather & Shoes and the Sustainable Development of Lake Urmia Basin), Secretariat of scientific programs, Technology & Innovation House, Social Innovation House, Leather & Shoe Skills and Digital Economy Higher Education Schools, 8 Scientific journals, Dental clinic, Specialized hospital, Research farm and greenhouses, Livestock, Pet clinic, Natural and artificial turf and sports halls, several Conference halls, and various scientific student associations. The goals and perspectives of this university are to increase capacities and capabilities for sustainable development in science, technology, and innovation, strengthen influence on society through commercialization, branding, and research and development, education of capable researchers with national and international capabilities to hold key positions and the development of the applicability of research through international cooperation.
