Islamic Azad University Shabestar Branch (IAUShab) was founded in October 1988 as the first university center in Shabestar City, the birthplace of Sheikh Mahmoud Shabestari is a famous scientist and mystic. This university has played a significant role in the cultural and social development of the city and the province of East Azerbaijan. IAUShab has three educational complexes and several research and innovation centers and complexes, including the Livestock Breeding Complex, Poultry Breeding Complex, Plant Breeding Institute, Agricultural Research Center,
