Islamic Azad University Khorramabad Branch established in 1986 in the beautiful city, Khorramabad. It is the capital of Lorestan Province, located in the west of Iran. Lorestan province is a historical province and it is well known for natural landscapes and beautiful waterfalls. The university has full academic and recreational facilities, such as libraries, equipped laboratories, workshops, greenhouses, amphitheaters, dormitories, dining halls, sports complex, gym, printing house and counseling center.

currently about 12500 students are studying in undergraduate and postgraduate and research activities in 150 fields. There are more than 370 full time and part time faculty members including full professors, associate professors, assistant professors and instructors who teach and supervise students and research activities.
