Islamic Azad University of Gorgan Branch was established on October 6, 1987 (Mehr 14, 1366), with the efforts of Dr. Abdol Ghayoom Ebrahimi, an outstanding and well-known professor in the country and region, in three fields of agricultural engineering, civil engineering, and biology. Today, this university with 170 hectares of land and 172,000 square meters of educational and research space is one of the comprehensive and prominent universities of the country with a wide variety of different academic fields, ranging from the associate level to the specialized doctorate level. Having 226 specialized laboratories, 20,000 square meters of outdoor sports space and the largest university sports complex in the province, 2 indoor swimming pools with an area of 4,500 square meters, 7 amphitheater halls with an area of 5,200 square meters, and the country's first and largest succulent cactus greenhouse town with 37 indoor greenhouses with an area of 52,000 square meters, this university has provided a peaceful and beautiful environment with international standards in terms of faculty members, specialized laboratories and workshops, student dormitories, and sports equipment and facilities for the training of young specialists.
