Throughout the same year, 116 students were accepted to get enrolled in two undergraduate courses, namely applied physics and business economics and a doctorate course in veterinary medicine. At present, Islamic Azad University of Urmia Branch is one of the largest scientific centers in the northwest of the country accredited as "Full qualified level”. It has 5 faculties, namely Faculty of basic sciences, Humanities, Medical sciences, Veterinary as well as Technical and Engineering faculty along with various departments and located in three educational and research campuses. With over 12,000 students in four undergraduate, postgraduate, professional PhD and Full PhD courses, the university has now attained a special status in attracting the region's scientific elites. The University has 102 laboratories and workshops with more than 1,200 advanced and up-to-date equipment aimed at providing the appropriate spaces to teach practical courses offered in various disciplines of basic sciences and technical sciences. The university has also furnished with specialized equipment students need for conducting their PhD and MA research projects. It also offers specialized laboratory services to industrial and scientific centers to establish a close relationship with various industrial sections that indicates the quality development of the university.
